Walloon - walon
Walloon is the traditional language of the southern half of Belgium, except for Tournai, Ath and Mons, where Picard is the traditional language. In many situations, though, French, being the language of prestige, is used rather than Walloon. The Walloon language
preserves some of the sounds of medieval French which have changed in modern French. The "sh" sound of French chambre maintains its medieval "ch" sound in Walloon tchambe and in the English word chamber, borrowed from Old French. The "j" and the "g" in the French word juge are soft, like the "s" in vision. The corresponding Walloon word djudje (pronounced jootch) and the English judge both preserve the harder sound of Old French. Also, Walloon spene and English spine have preserved the original Latin "s", while French épine has lost it.

9 Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
