The angel told Mary, "Don't be afraid! God is pleased with you,and you will have a son. His name will be Jesus. He will be a great man and will be called Son of the Most High God." "How will this happen," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?" The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come down to you, and God's power will come over you. Joseph went from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to the town of Bethlehem in Judea, the birthplace of King David. Joseph went there because he was a descendant of David. He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a baby. And while they were there, the time came for her baby to be born. And she gave birth to her firstborn son and wrapped him in swaddling cloths and laid him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them. Luke 2,4-7 |
Jesus grew in wisdom and in stature and God was pleased with him and so were the people. Matthew 9,36 |
Then Jesus returned to Galilee, filled with the power of the Holy Spirit. News about him spread quickly through the whole region. He proceeded to teach in their synagogues, winning praise from all. Luke 4,14-15 |
Jesus traveled throughout the region of Galilee, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness. Matthew 4,23 |
When he [Jesus] saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Matthew 9,36 |

A man with leprosy came and knelt before him and said, "Lord, if you want to, you can heal me and make me clean." So Jesus reached out his hand, touched him, and said, "I do want to. Be clean!" Immediately his disease was healed. Matthew 8,2-3 |
When this man heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea, he went to him and begged him to come and heal his son, who was close to death. Jesus told him, "Unless you people see miracles and wonders, you will never believe." "Sir," replied the man, "please come with me before my child dies." Jesus told him, "Go home; your son will live." The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and set off for home. On his way home his servants met him with the the news that his son was alive and well. He asked them when the boy had begun to get better, and they replied, "Yesterday afternoon at one o’clock his fever suddenly disappeared!" Then the father realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him, "Your son will live." So he and his whole household believed. John 4,47-53 |
The woman said to him, "I know that Messiah is coming (he who is called Christ). When he comes, he will tell us all things." Then Jesus told her, "I am the Messiah." John 4,25-26 |

The Pharisees and the teachers of the Law started grumbling [about Jesus], "This man welcomes outcasts and even eats with them!" Luke 15,2 |
The experts in the law and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught committing adultery. They made her stand in front of them and said to Jesus, "This woman was caught in the act of committing adultery. The law of Moses says to stone her to death. What do you say?" They were trying to trap him into saying something they could use against him, but Jesus stooped down and wrote in the dust with his finger. They kept demanding an answer, so he stood up and said, "All right, but let the one who has never sinned throw the first stone." Then he stooped down again and wrote in the dust. When they heard this, they left one by one, starting with the older men, until only Jesus was left, with the woman standing there. Jesus stood up and said to her, "Where are they? Has no one condemned you?" She said, "No one, Lord." And Jesus said, "I do not condemn you, either. Go now, but leave your life of sin." John 8,3-11 |
This made the Jewish authorities more determined than ever to kill him; not only had he broken the Sabbath law, but he had said that God was his own Father and in this way had made himself equal with God. John 5,18 |
The chief priests and the whole Council tried to find some evidence against Jesus in order to put him to death, but they could not find any. Mark 14,55 |
Jesus took the bread and gave thanks for it. Then he broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, saying, "This is my body, which is given for you. Keep on doing this in memory of me." He did the same with the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant sealed by my blood, which is being poured out for you." Luke 22,19-20 |
Then they began to spit in Jesus’ face and hit him with their fists and some slapped him. Matthew 26,67 |

[Jesus said] "Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I'm telling the truth, why don't you believe me?" John 8,46 |
Pilate asked them, "Then what should I do with Jesus, who is called Christ?" They all yelled, "Nail him to a cross!" "Why?" Pilate demanded. "What crime has he committed?" But the mob roared even louder, "Crucify him! Nail him to a cross!" Pilate saw that he wasn't getting anywhere and that a riot was developing. So he sent for a bowl of water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, "I am innocent of this man's blood. The responsibility is yours!" Matthew 27,22-24 |
The soldiers led him away. Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with Jesus to be executed. When they came to the place called Calvary, The Skull, they crucified him, along with the criminals, one on his right and the other on his left. Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing." And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice. Luke 23,26 & 32-34 |

One of the soldiers plunged his spear into Jesus' side, and at once blood and water poured out. John 19,34 |
Very early on Sunday morning the women went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. They found the stone rolled away from the entrance to the tomb, but when they went in, they didn't find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were puzzling over this, two men in dazzling robes suddenly stood beside them. While the women remained terrified, bowing their faces to the ground, the men asked them, "Why are you looking among the dead for someone who is living? He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! When the women came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the eleven disciples and to all the others. It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and several other women who told the apostles what had happened. But they did not believe the women, because the story sounded like nonsense to the men. Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. And after bending down and seeing only the linen cloths, he went away, wondering what had happened. Luke 24,1-6,9-12 |
That Sunday evening the disciples were meeting behind locked doors because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders. Suddenly, Jesus was standing there among them! "Peace be with you," he said. As he spoke, he showed them the wounds in his hands and his side. They were filled with joy when they saw the Lord! John 20,19-20 |

For forty days after Jesus had suffered and died, he proved in many ways that he had been raised from death and that he was actually alive. He appeared to his apostles and spoke to them about the things concerning the kingdom of God. Acts 1,3 |
