Arberesh - arbërisht

In the 15th century there was an influx of Albanian refugees into southern Italy fleeing the Turkish invasion of the Balkans. They spoke the medieval form of the Tosk Albanian dialect. In writing Arberesh and Albanian look similar, but often the pronunciation of the letters is different and unfamiliar vocabulary can cause difficulties.
