Slovak - slovenský
The Czechs and the Slovaks originally spoke the same Western Slavonic dialect, but centuries of the Slovaks being part of Hungary and the Czechs being governed by Germany, Bohemia and Austria resulted in the Czech and Slovak dialects becoming separate languages. Until the 19th century, when Standard Slovak came into being, it was common for people to talk in Slovak, but to write in Czech.

Lebo tak miloval Bôh svet, že svojho jednorodeného Syna dal, aby každý, kto verí v neho, nezahynul, ale mal večný život.
For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3,16
9. Otče náš, ktorý si na nebesiach,
posvät’ sa meno tvoje, 10. príd’ král’ovstvo tvoje bud’ vôl’a tvoja ako v nebi tak i na zemi.
11. Chlieb náš každodenný daj nám dnes 12. a odpust’
nám naše viny, ako i my odpúšt’ame
svojim vinníkom, 13. a neuved’ nás do
pokušenia, ale zbav nás zlého.
9 Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
10 your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us today our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from the evil one.
Matthew 6
