Traditional Dialect of Worcestershire

The Worcestershire dialect was a meeting point of two dialect groups, showing features of both. It used the "r" of West Country English, but not the "v" and "z" for "f" and "s". It used the northern "u", as in "put" rather than "putt", of Midlands English, e.g. sun for "son" instead of the southern pronunciation, sunn. Being a borderline dialect, this didn’t happen every time - in the Worcestershire dialect "brother" didn’t rhyme with "mother".
