Traditional Dialect of Shropshire

In Shropshire a hybrid of West Midlands and West Country dialect was spoken. The West Midlands "u", as in "pull" and the West Country final "-r", which was not silent as in Standard British English, were used side by side. An example is Shropshire "sumer", where Standard British English pronounced it "summa".
