Traditional Dialect of Hertfordshire
The Hertfordshire dialect had few of the distinctive features of West Country English, London English, or East Anglian English. It could be classed as a South Eastern English dialect. Like Oxford English and Cambridge English, it was fairly close to standard English. Perhaps Hertfordshire dialect and Bedfordshire dialect could jointly claim the title of closest of all the traditional dialects to standard English.
