Venetian - vèneto

Venetian is a Romance language surrounded by four other Romance languages, none of which are closely related to it. To the north is Ladin, one of the Rhaeto-Romance languages. To the east is Friulian, another Rhaeto-Romance language. To the south is Emiliano-Romagnolo and to the west is Lombard, both of which being Gallo-Italic languages. Despite being a language of north Italy, it appears to be more closely related to Standard Italian, which has its roots in central Italy.
