Auvergnat - auvernhat

Auvergnat is one of the northernmost dialects of Occitan, or Langue d'Oc, being spoken to the south of the Langues d'Oïl of northern France. The French language itself is a Langue d'Oïl language. Oc and oui are the southern and northern words for yes. Auvergnat was the official language of Auvergne from about 1340 to 1540, by which time it had been replaced by French and became regarded as a dialect of Occitan.
