There is usually nothing very interesting about old newspapers. We might cut out an article which we find useful or amusing, or keep an edition which features a special event, but mainly we stack a few in a cupboard and put the rest in the recycling bin.
The news about the birth of Jesus, given first of all to ordinary shepherds by God's angels Luke chapter 2 verses 8 to 12 seems like a very long time ago, but it is never "old news" and today it is more relevant than ever. Jesus is the Son of God, and God became man to show us the way to eternal life. In the troubled world we live in this news gives us assurance that when we leave our earthly lives we have the hope of heaven given to us by God Himself.
To the people of Jerusalem, in John chapter 10 verse 30, Jesus declared "The Father and I are one". In John chapter 14 verse 9 He tells His disciples "Whoever has seen me has seen the Father". Jesus IS God! We could write that for a newspaper headline any time and it would never be out of date.
