In our uncertain, troubled world we all need.... more joy. In Genesis chapter 21 verse 6 we read "Sarah said 'God has brought me joy and laughter'". She had borne a son to Abraham in old age, just as God had promised! The joys of family life should be wonderful.
Psalm 16 verse 11 says "You will show me the path that leads to life; your presence fills me with joy and brings me pleasure for ever". And Psalm 51 verse 12: "Give me again the joy that comes from your salvation, and makes me willing to obey you". What is this "salvation"? It's the good news that "God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" (John chapter 3 verse 16).
The Son is Jesus, who prepares a place in Heaven for ANYONE who will believe in Him and accept Him as their own personal Saviour. He took the sins of the whole world - past, present and future - in His own body when He was nailed to the cross. We cannot understand how, but it was God's plan for forgiveness. Not only are we forgiven, we are JUSTIFIED - that means we are "put right" in the sight of God, by our faith. Believe in Jesus, accept Him into your life, and tell others what He has done. Romans chapter 12 verse 12 says "Let your hope keep you joyful, be patient in your troubles, and pray at all times".
Jesus is the Judge of all - people from every tribe, language, race and nation - when we leave this life and enter eternity. Do YOU want endless, everlasting joy in His presence, and with your believing loved ones? If, however, you have refused His precious gift, you are looking at a joyless end in a place I can hardly bear to imagine.... called Hell.
